'Tis a gift to be simple

Would it be churlish of me to say that I really dislike, nay, HATE is not too strong a word; I hate Simplicity's new website. The way the patterns are displayed is counter intuitive. The What's New section has everything all mixed together regardless of category, so I have to wade through the costumes and kid clothes to see the new women's clothes. And what happened to the line drawings? I used to display the line drawings and the back of the envelopes to decide if I wanted a pattern or not. Now I can't find those - if they are even still there they are well hidden.
Also the website is clunky, and it has so much going on it takes forever to move on to next thing. I used to like looking through the old site and deciding what new patterns I needed. It was quick and easy! SIGH - I liked the way it was before!
What say you, fellow sewistas? Do you like the new website? Or do we have to go back to looking at the books of patterns in the fabric store?

I hate it also. I like to browse the "new" catagory, and find that clumsy now. Don't like, don't like.

Maybe it IS a plot to get us back into the stores? Because that website is crap (excuse my language). I also hate it.

Once I joined "Club BMV" and started buying all my Butterick/McCalls/Vogue patterns online, I stopped buying Simplicity patterns. Nothing against the company, but it's just easier to do one-stop shopping with the Club BMV. I've seen numerous comments from bloggers that share your dislike of Simplicity's new format, so you're not alone. Hope the company listens to you guys!

I miss the line drawings too! How am I supposed to judge a pattern from the tiny back view on the pattern envelop pdf?????

And I don't need to tell you how that new site works on dial-up!!!

Add me to the list of disgruntled customers. Much preferred the old format. If it ain't broke - don't fix it!!!

After reading your blog, I went to Simplicity to see it for myself. I did look at some ladies dress patterns, and then clicked on the one I was interested in. After that image enlarges and gives the option to choose size, etc, I noticed the tab that says "product details" above the picture, and then there is another tab right by it that says "envelope back". I clicked on that and it brought up the entire back, including the drawing. You can zoom in on it as well. Hope this helps. And no, I do not work for Simplicity!! lol BTW, I love your blog!!

Yep, I hate it too. You can see the back of the envelope, but there is no technical drawing of the front of the garment. I don't know about you, but I make my choices by the technical drawings. It's rally bad, and I agree, I don't want to have to wade through everything to get to the new stuff. A mess.

I'm a hater too! Too much focus on the notions, etc, when all I want is the patterns.
